Artist: Jerome’s Dream

Venue: The Met, RI

JEROME’S DREAM BEGAN IN CONNECTICUT as one of the key influential Screamo bands of the late 90s. AFTER AN EARLY-2000S BREAKUP, THEY RETURNED WITH SHARPER PRODUCTION AND HEAVIER POST-HARDCORE WEIGHT WHILE KEEPING THE NERVE-FRAYED EDGE. DISSONANT, STOP-START RIFFS; SPRINTING DRUMS; VOCALS THAT SLIP BETWEEN SPOKEN PLEAS AND FULL-THROAT SHOUTS. TENSION, RELEASE, FEEDBACK.

The set almost felt veteran: the band knew how to play and knew what the crowd needed. The PIT OPENED IMMEDIATELY AND NEVER stopped; STAGE TRAFFIC, CONSTANT MOTION, and the occasional boot to the face. OLDER CUTS SPARKED PILE-ONS; NEWER MATERIAL LANDED THICK AND PUMMELING. TIGHT PLAYING, MINIMAL BANTER, SONGS SNAPPING BACK-TO-BACK UNTIL THE ROOM WAS SWEAT AND RINGING CYMBALS.
